6.2. Text

Text (menu entry: Tools -> Text)

Text tool entry is used for setting text, memo, font and shaped/curved text parameters, used in conjunction with various text shapes (standard shapes OpMode).

Font

The top-most group in Text tool is used to specify font type, font style, font size and shell the text output be anti-aliased. All entries are more or less self explainable.

Single line text

The second group is used for setting single line text parameters:

  • Edit field: enter text you want to render on the image canvas.
  • Initial angle:  text rotation angle. This angle is initial and can be changed by pressing Ctrl key and dragging the text around (while mouse button is pressed).
  • Flip text: if checked, the text will be flipped.
  • Text border pen size: if checked a border around the text will also be rendered; slider value is used to set the border width. Note: while dragging the text around, border is always visible, however it will not be rendered onto image canvas (when mouse button is released) unless this option is checked.

Shaped text (text characters are rotated/aligned to a given shape):

  • Autocalculate character rotation: if checked (default), characters are automatically rotated following points on the shape, otherwise a parameter Char. angle will appear; you can set the angle manually.
  • Clockwise text alignment: used to clockwise (default) or anti-clockwise alignment.
  • Shape radio-buttons: style of text shaping – arc, ellipse, cosine or vertical. Text will follow points on selected shape.

Curved text (text characters are rotated/aligned to a given curve):

  • Fixed FS: fixed font size.
  • Adjust FS: adjust font size, a new parameter a.f. (adjust factor) will appear; you can set desired value to decrease or increase font size.
  • Repeat fixed: if curve exceeds overall text length, text will be repeated.
  • Closed curve: text will be rendered following closed curve (assistant curve will be closed).
  • Spline curve: a spline will be constructed from the curve drawn. Text will follow the spline line.

Memo text

The third group is used to specify memo text and it’s associated parameters.

  • Show memo border: if checked, memo border is rendered.
  • Text alignment: alignment inside memo box – left justified, right justified or centered.
  • Memo field: a place for your text.

All this parameters are related to pop-up items in Standard shapes OpMode (RMB on image canvas for actions that support textual output) : Text, Shaped text, Memo text and Curved text.
