Pixopedia XE32/64 highlights

  • Two working modes:
    1. standard: lot of ugly icons.
    2. menu mode: classic drop-down menu, a little bit less ugly icons.
  • 9 predefined brushes visible in bottom panel and collected in one set. Brushes are accessible by mouse click or by keyboard shortcut (1-9).
  • Brush can be changed while drawing (on the fly), by clicking appropriate keyboard shortcut.
  • Every brush has it’s own settings, color, texture, background tile and other parameters.
  • Brushes can be modified and saved individually or as complete set of 9.
  • Tools, actions, brush parameters are created as sticky forms. Forms can be detached and moved freely. This is useful when working with extended desktop with two monitors.
  • If set so in main settings, when drawing process begins, all visible sticky forms are hidden. When drawing process is finished, all sticky forms are shown again.
  • New drawing engine implemented: every shape border is drawn with current brush. Interior drawing of closed shapes uses it’s own parameters.
  • Rectangle and ellipse shapes can be rotated.
  • New undo buffer engine: single stroke undo/redo, multiple strokes undo/redo (ornaments). Every layer has it’s own undo buffer.
  • Convolutional neural network support through lua scripting engine. To apply neural style transfer, please download data.zip file from: https://github.com/spetric/Lips/releases and unpack it under data folder (please see Pixopedia documentation|installation). The same zip file contains face detection classifiers.
  • Automatic “downgrade” to LE when Microsoft redistributable files are missing (convenient for Windows XP users).
  • User forced “downgrade” to ME,LE or TE (check documentation).

Reguirements

  • Os: Windows Xp/Vista/7/8/10. Note: If you want to install and run Pixopedia on Windows 95/98/NT/2000, you need to download gdiplus.dll somewhere from internet and put it in win-system directory.
  • Screen resolution: minimum 1280 x 1024, recommended 1920 x 1080 and higher.
  • CPU: Pentium IV and upward.
  • Memory: minimum 1GB.

Current development phase: version 2020.07 – release!

  • Dock/undock possibility added to right bar tools: by double-clicking on the top header to undock/dock active tool.
  • Stamp brush browsing and loading changed to more user friendly mode.
  • Stamp brushes can be rotated.
  • Selected stamp brush can be rotated on the fly, either by using fixed angle (jitter, cumulative +, cumulative -) or by dynamic angle (follow  the stroke).
  • Blur brush tip added to procedural brushes that use static brush tip (solid, hair, parallel) .
  • New brush type added: pump brush. Similar to image nozzle, but it works with stamp brush collection packed in one file.
  • Load from file option added to assistant images.
  • Spread action->Stroke warper->Color picker mode->Step with brush color scheme mode moved to the bottom of radio-group.

Bugs in version 2020.07

  • Bug when selecting user defined palette: wrong palette is loaded (shifted by 1). Fixed.
  • Bug in pump brush: mode not initialized; single cell will be drawn, although sequential mode is initially selected. Fixed. Workaround: change to random and back to sequential.
  • Bug in Draw action: erase does not work well on images with alpha channel. Fixed.
  • Bug when saving image: if some images are imported as new layers, when you want to save image, image is saved as last imported image. This is very nasty bug, as last  imported image is overwritten. Fixed. Temporary workaround: if you have imported some images as layers, always use “Save As…”.
